A museum of everyday life
Over 150 years ago, the Musée des Arts Décoratifs was created by collectors, industrialists and craftsmen concerned with the quality of everyday objects.
In 1864, this led to the founding of the Union centrale des beaux-arts appliqués à l’industrie, which became the Union centrale des arts décoratifs in 1882, followed by the Arts décoratifs in 2004, and finally the Musée des arts décoratifs in 2018.The recognition of the decorative arts, the enhancement of the status of decorative craftsmen and workers, the integration of living art into museums, the valorization of women’s creation and the promotion of design are at the heart of the Musée’s approach.
From the Middle Ages to the present day, the Musée des Arts Décoratifs collection offers an unrivalled panorama of the history of furniture, glass, ceramics, silverware, jewelry, design, textiles, fashion, graphics and advertising.
The Musée des Arts Décoratifs also manages the Musée Nissim de Camondo, the famous Camondo school that trains interior architects and designers, and a library founded in 1864 that houses a collection of printed books and exhibition catalogs in the fields of decorative arts and art.
The Musée des Arts Décoratifs is home to a number of rooms that can be hired to organize your business events and prestigious receptions.
